When the renovated Recreation and Wellness Center opened in late August, people from all corners of the Gannon University campus community were eager to be a part of it.
The Rec Center staff was happy to give those people a reason to do so, and arranged a schedule of 17 fitness classes offered on a free, introductory basis, to students, faculty and staff. The intent was to continue the classes on a paid basis if the response was sufficient.
In fact, the classes, which covered everything from barre (a ballet-inspired core-training workout) to zumba (billed as a "dance" fitness-party) were overwhelmingly popular—so much so that two classes were added (including ski/snowboard conditioning), and the classes were offered free of charge.
Now, group fitness classes are available from 6:10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and are offered six days a week. There are classes for every part of the body and for every skill level, from weekend warriors to serious athletes in training.
A valid Gannon ID is all you need to enroll. A little willpower and appropriate workout clothing help, too.
