Change is the essence of life

Change was the theme of the day at Spring Commencement on May 10. The graduates, joined by family, friends and members of the Gannon University community, filled the newly renovated Erie Insurance Arena to near capacity as 769 doctoral, graduate and undergraduate degrees were dispersed.

This year's keynote speaker, the Rev. Majdi S.Siryani, LLD, spoke to the ubiquity and power of change in his address. Fr. Siryani, who directs the advancement and global office at the American University of Madaba in Jordan, said, "Change is the essence of life." Change is certainly the essence of Commencement as tassels were moved from right to left and tears of gratitude and pride were shed. Fr. Siryani placed a fitting benediction on the day: "Please remain inquisitive to other people and cultures. God bless you all."

Recent graduates reflect on their experience at Gannon.
