Being involved in the community means more than just an act of service, it means making an impact and creating change. Gannon University’s commitment to the Erie community integrates service with education, the environment, the economy and wellness. The University continues to be an origin of forming new ways to uplift the community through programs and initiatives that most effectively make the greatest impact. Gannon and myself proudly welcome the role as a neighbor to downtown Erie, offering support and service, but also joining in the same vision of maintaining the history, beauty and integrity of our shared community.
Whether it is using a new online platform to make collaboration between non-profit organizations easier, creating summer programs for students to stay active and involved through community projects, or participating in fundraising walks and events, the stories that follow exemplify how the continuous momentum of involvement from students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends of the University, and community members and partners has created an impactful relationship. A relationship rooted to making change, and one that defines the true meaning of community engagement.
